while their immigration applications
are being processed?
I submitted my medical
exam some time ago for
my permanent residence
application and haven’t
received my visa yet. For
what length of time are
medical exams valid? How
long does it usually take to
get your visa after a
medical exam?
In general, medical exams
are valid for 12 months. If 12
months have gone by, the
best course of action is to
contact the mission where the
application was made directly
and inquire about the status
of your application. Once the
medical results and other
necessary documentation
are complete, the application
will be processed.

visit their grandson here in
Canada, can they apply for
tourist visas while waiting
for their immigrant
application to be
processed?
Yes, your parents can apply
to enter Canada as temporary
residents. Whether or not they
require temporary resident
visas from a visa officer
overseas will depend upon
their nationality. In any case,
either a visa officer or Border
Services Officer must be
satisfied that your parents will
comply with the conditions of
their visit. This includes the
ability and intention to leave
Canada if their permission to
stay expires.

After you have written your
test, it can take to 4 to 6
months for you to receive an
invitation to your citizenship
ceremony, provided you were
successful. Applicants are
not advised of the results of
their citizenship test, instead,
they are invited to the next
stage in the process, either
a citizenship ceremony or a
hearing with a citizenship
I completed the written
exam for citizenship in May
2009. I still haven’t heard
from CIC regarding whether
or not I passed the exam.
How long does it usually
take from written exam to
