world go round
NAME Shweta, known by my fans
as the Indo-Canadian Sensation!
Shweta means pure and fair. AGE
25. CURRENTLY I am a vocalist
MEET
Shweta
and a full-time singer and performer.
Recently I completed
playback projects for three upcoming
movies: It's a Mismatch,
Red Light Bhangra, and I Do, Do
I. FAVOURITE COLOURS White,
as it defines Shweta or purity
and fairness. I also love green
as it is an environmental colour
and defines nature. FAVOURITE

BOLLYWOOD STARS Shah Rukh
Khan, because he is a self-made
man and has proven to the
world that you do not need a
godfather in the industry to
make it big; Kajol, for her gorgeous
smile and amazing acting
skills. The two of them together
set the screen on fire.
FAVOURITE HOLLYWOOD STARS
Julia Roberts and Brad Pitt (especially
after watching The Curious
Case of Benjamin Button and,
of course, he is a hunk!) FAVOU-
RITE MOVIES It’s a Mismatch (It's
my first Bollywood movie! I
have done playback for actress
Nandana Sen), Sound of Music
(the first English song I learnt
as a child, Do a deer, is from this
movie) and Tak en (every girl
should watch this movie.
FAVOURITE SINGERS Sonu Nigam
and Sunidhi Chauhan (my
friends say I sound like her!)
FAVOURITE SONGS Lambi judaai
from Hero. This song gave me
the Sangam Kala Group award
and a ticket to India as the best
singer in North America. FAV-
OURITE TV SHOW Sa Re Ga Ma Pa
on Zee TV (I love listening to so
many talented singers as you get
to learn something from every
one of them). FAVOURITE BOOKS
The Bhagavad Gita As It Is by Srila
Prabhupada and The Tipping Point
by Malcolm Gladwell. FAVOURITE
ICE CREAM FLAVOURS Chocolate.

as he is a great player and an
amazing human being. I HANG

Ottawa. I love shopping and
bubble tea! I’M FREAKED OUT BY
Bad odour and bad singers. I
NEED My own studio and a personal
chauffeur! FAVOURITE AC-
TIVITY Composing my own tunes
and practising Hindustani classical
music as I believe it is the
basic every singer must have.
Once you have learnt the basics
in classical, one can pick up a
song very easily. I love learning
new songs during my spare time.
I am now producing my own album
and always thinking of
new tunes, beats and compositions.
I WANT TO BE The only female
playback singer from
Canada that sings in Bollywood
movies. I have already sung for
Nandana Sen in It’s a Mismatch
and I hope to do many more.
MY ROLE MODELS My parents
who have always encouraged
me to put my heart into any task
I do, to give it my 100 per cent
and have faith in God. TO SAVE
THE PLANET Love one another
and eradicate qualities such as
jealousy and selfishness. IN A
PERFECT WORLD We live in the
Age of Kali, there is no such
thing as a perfect world. A perfect
world is a spiritual plane
where god showers us with unconditional
love.
