Make mine a tall one
Try these fruit and vegetable juices
and say hello to a deliciously healthy summer!
Mint-Lime Twist
6 tbsp lime juice
A bunch of mint leaves
Sugar to taste
A pinch of salt
Chaat masala to sprinkle
Crush mint leaves in a pestle
and set aside. Dissolve sugar in
a little warm water. Add to lime
juice with salt and stir well.
Add crushed mint leaves and
six cups of cold water. Stir
again. Place ice cubes in a glass,
pour lime juice on top. Sprinkle
a little chaat masala on top and
garnish with a mint leaf just
before serving.
Substitute water with Perrier
for a fizzy take on this perennial
summer favourite.
Celery-Kiwi Juice
6 sticks of celery
6 kiwi fruit
Parsley leaves to garnish
A few drops of lemon juice
Salt to taste
Make a smooth paste of
celery and kiwi in the blender.
Add lemon juice and salt to
taste. You can strain this to get
a clear juice, but a healthier
alternative is just adding water
to get the desired consistency.
This way you don’t lose celery’s
roughage. Garnish with chopped
parsley leaves and pour into
chilled glasses.
Peachy Mango
2 ripe mangoes
6 ripe peaches
Sugar to taste
A pinch of salt
Peel mangoes and cut into
thick cubes. Cube peaches as
well and run in blender to get
a smooth paste. Add sugar to
taste and give it another whirr
to dissolve the sugar. Add a
pinch of salt and serve chilled.
Strawberry-Orange
2 cups strawberries, hulled
Four cups of orange
segments
Sugar to taste
A pinch of salt
Blend strawberries and
oranges to get a smooth paste.
Add sugar and mix well to
dissolve. Add a pinch of salt and
six cups of water. Mix well, and
serve chilled.
Carrot & Beet
2 carrots
1 beet
A dash of tabasco sauce
Scrub and scrape carrots
and beet. Place in a mixer and
blend until smooth. Add a dash
of tabasco sauce, blend again
to mix well. Serve chilled.
