Program?
The Library Settlement
Partnerships (LSP) program
provides help for newcomers
in public libraries throughout
Ontario.
Settlement workers in
public libraries are employed
by settlement agencies and
funded by Citizenship and
Immigration Canada.
Where is LSP offered?
New to Canada?
Your library can help
Services for newcomers
are currently offered in public
libraries in 11 cities throughout
Ontario: Toronto, Ottawa,
Hamilton, Brampton,
Kitchener, Waterloo, London,
Windsor, Markham,
Vaughan and Richmond Hill.
What types of services are
offered through LSP?
LSP services include oneon-one
settlement information
and referral, group
information sessions and
community outreach. LSP
settlement workers can help
newcomers obtain information
on:
• Employment or training
programs
• Learning English or French

Why offer settlement
services in libraries?
Libraries are the main
public gathering place in
many communities. Settlement
workers in libraries can
provide newcomers with
resources that can facilitate
their initial settlement needs
and ongoing integration into
the community.
Newcomers have access to
materials that can help them
improve their English or
French language skills; learn
about the Canadian job market;
and fulfill other educational,
information and cultural
needs.
Libraries offer books and
videos in many languages for
adults and children. They also
offer a convenient location,
free access to computers for
job search and a wealth of
other resources.
