Slumdog Millionaire’s Dev Patel made
his debut in showbiz on a teen drama
show, Skins. When clips of his bare
behind were outed on a recent David
Letterman show, Patel said, “My mom
took me to the audition. Little did I
know that I would have to be running
around naked the entire first season!”
Time out
Manoj Bajpai says his latest film,
Jugaad, is reflective of the times.
“When everything caves in, it is a
person’s will power that comes to the
rescue. Many entrepreneurs are going
through a similar phase during this
recession.”
With three films under production,
Bajpai does not rule out turning
producer or director. “There is always
scope for growth but everything has
to happen at the right time.”
Dog fight
Aamir Khan has been making fun
of Shah Rukh Khan and calling
himself number one, and SRK wants to
know why. “I don’t think this is funny.
When I say I am number one, I
definitely don’t mean it in arrogance. I
say it with a sense of humility. But I
guess it will take a lot for Aamir to
understand that. When Aamir named
his dog Shah Rukh, I wanted to name
mine Aamir. But my dog refused!”
Then getting serious, he confesses, “My
wife Gauri gets upset when I crack
these jokes. She thinks I shouldn’t bring
myself down by doing or saying such
things. I respect her viewpoint and I
understand that she doesn’t want me
to lose my dignity.”
Meanwhile, Aamir Khan is not the
only one giving poor SRK a hard time.
During the week Australian pop
sensation Kylie Minogue was in India,
she snubbed Shah Rukh Khan. After
reading an interview in which Minogue
mentioned his Om Shanti Om as one of
her favourite Bollywood films, Shah
Rukh Khan’s office got in touch with
her manager, expressing the superstar’s
desire to meet her. Her manager instead
said the meeting could only happen at
the completion party of the film
because she didn’t want anyone on the
film sets.
