challenges. While Sun Life Financial advisor Rajni
Rajni
Sharma (neé Nanda
Nanda) Nanda is no exception, she took a few different
turns along the path to the rewarding career she enjoys today.
She was a member of the All-India Women’s Hockey
Association and national field hockey team, where she
played in multiple World Cups. “What I learned as an athlete
would later be useful in helping me run my own business.”
Like many women, she put her career plans on hold after
marriage. When the family moved to Canada, she stayed
home to raise their three children, but also concentrated on
upgrading her education to Canadian standards. With the
children growing into responsible adults, it was time to start
thinking about her career.
“A nine-to-five job didn’t
excite me, so I was looking
at other options when two
things happened that gave
me my answer,” she recalls.
“What I love most is
putting plans into
action” RAJNI SHARMA
She met with Sun Life Financial advisor Kanwal Kanwal Dhillon
Dhillon
to discuss her life insurance needs. She explains: “I found
what she did interesting – her background was also similar
to mine. I thought maybe this was something I could do.” Shortly
thereafter, Sharma saw a Sun Life Financial commercial. “I phoned
for more information,” she says. “And the rest is history.”
Now a top Sun Life Financial advisor, Sharma enjoys
excellent financial compensation, a flexible work schedule and
the pride associated with both professional achievement and
personal growth. She was awarded Sun Life Financial Rookie
of the Year and has qualified every year for Convention, the
company’s annual recognition event for its most successful
advisors. In 2008, she was the top female advisor in the
Western region and third-ranked female overall. She also
placed ninth amongst all male and female advisors in Canada.
While her ability to connect with the desi community
helped her initially build a client base, her passion for her
job and helping others has led to her continued success.
“Joining Sun Life Financial was a life-changing experience
for me. I like the environment and the support I receive, but
what I love most is putting plans into action that help people
take steps towards their financial independence.”
