Long-time Mississauga
mayor, Hazel McCallion,
celebrated her 88th
birthday on February 7 at a spring
banquet hosted by Audrey
Chiang, Sun Life Financial
advisor and chair of the Mississauga
Board of Chinese Professionals
& Businesses (CPB),
and the Trillium Health Centre
Foundation.
Sun Life Financial marked this
special occasion by donating
$8,888 in support of the Hazel
McCallion Centre for Heart
Health at the Trillium Health
Centre in Mississauga. The centre
offers a broad range of inpatient
and outpatient programs and
services to care for people with
heart disease.
“Mayor McCallion is truly the
heart of the Mississauga
community and we were privileged
to be the corporate donation
sponsor in celebration of
her lucky 88th birthday,” said
Jacqueline McMullen, Assistant
Vice-President, Career
Sales Force Recruiting and Selection.

of our reputation as a good
corporate citizen, which our
advisors and financial centre
staff have helped build by getting
actively involved in supporting
charitable organizations like the

The evening, which also

trade with India.

of a Chinese-themed dinner,
karaoke singing by the mayor and
guests, a raffle and a silent auction.
A portion of the night’s proceeds
was donated to the Hazel McCallion
Centre for Heart Health.

the birthday celebration of our
beloved mayor, who is 88 years
young,” said Audrey
Chiang.
“In Chinese culture,
88 symbolizes
fortune and good
luck, since the word
‘eight’ sounds similar
to the word for
wealth. Because mayor
McCallion has reached
the age of 88, Miss-
issauga may feel doubly lucky
for having had her serve our
city with passion and dedication
for the past 30 years. She
is a role model for us all.”
