“I am glad that every serial that I have done has been a hit, but no more TV
serials for me,” says Parmeet Sethi grandiosely. “I want to concentrate on
films now! Times have changed – films are no longer just star-centric. I did
an Israeli film with Kruttika Desai called Turn Left at the End of the World
and could have concentrated on a career abroad, but I did not want to chase
agents to promote my career.” Sethi, who made his debut with Dilwale Dulhaniya
Le Jayenge, is staging a comeback on the big screen with Varun Khanna’s Bad
Luck Govind after a long hibernation. He plays a Punjabi don and says he will
approach the role differently from how Sunjay Dutt did in Munnabhai MBBS
and Lage Raho Munnabhai. In Vignaharta, he is cast opposite Divya Dutta.
“Vignaharta is not a mythological film contrary to its title. It documents the
miracles of Siddhi Vinayak.” Sethi believes he has been blessed with two
sons thanks to wife Archana Pootran Singh’s prayers to the deity.

Recession-hit?
Recession-hit?
Has recession hit Shah Rukh
Khan? He was paid Rs.250 million
($6.25 million) to come on board as
the celebrity face of a new real estate
venture in Dubai brokered by his
Morani buddies. A further Rs. 3.5
billion ($87.5 million) was to be paid
to him once the scheme took off.
Now that the global recession has
put an end to the scheme, poor SRK
gets only the paltry $6.25 million.

In a country obsessed with fair skin,
Aishwarya Rai-Bachchan recently
took a firm stand. She refused to be
the Indian face of a skin lightening
cream manufactured by a global
cosmetic company. The company
signed Sonam Kapoor to endorse the
fairness cream instead, positioning her
“as a young face” as opposed to Ash,
who may now be called the “older
face” of the industry!
